Transition to Practice (LNFA)

Accreditation Statement: This activity has received continuing professional nursing education accreditation from the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Upon completion of this course, the health care provider will understand:

1. Understand Medicare, Medicaid, and the evolution of Nursing Facilities (NFs), differentiating NFs from long-term care.
2. Distinguish LVN and RN scopes of practice and apply decision-making models to scope of practice issues.
3. Identify key regulations and utilize resources from CMS, HHSC, TBON, and evidence-based organizations like IHI and CDC.
4. Implement infection control and medication safety guidelines.
5. Prioritize resident needs and manage time effectively.
6. Employ effective communication, team-building, and conflict resolution strategies.
7. Recognize and address workplace bullying, and understand the value of professional nursing associations.
